            La Bible répond à l'une des plus anciennes questions de l'humanité, à savoir comment nous pouvons être en règle avec Dieu. Apprenez la signification puissante de la justification et comment nous sommes rendus vraiment justes par le sang précieux de notre Seigneur.

            Le terme de justification est un terme théologique plutôt ennuyeux dont le sens est souvent obscur. Nous allons tout d’abord étudier le mot puis, ensuite, tenter d’en expliquer le sens. Le thème central de l’épître aux Romains est la justice. Plusieurs siècles auparavant, Job avait posé la question suivante :

            « Comment l’homme serait-il juste devant Dieu ? » (Job 25:4).

            L’épître aux Romains présente la réponse de Dieu. Si nous sommes intéressés par la justice, l’épître aux Romains nous intéressera. Jésus a dit :

            « Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés » (Matthieu 5:6).

            Nous pouvons avoir faim et soif de guérison ou de prospérité sans être comblés. Mais lorsque nous aurons faim et soif de justice, nous serons rassasiés.

            « À plus forte raison donc, maintenant que nous sommes justifiés par son sang, serons-nous sauvés par lui de la colère. » (Romains 5:9)

            Remarquez que nous avons été justifiés par son sang. À la fois en hébreu et en grec, un seul mot est traduit par « juste » ou « vertueux ». En hébreu, le mot est tsadaq, et en grec, dikaioō. Mais peu importe sa traduction, il s’agit du même mot. En français, nous tendons à nous référer à juste en termes de légalité ou de loi et à vertueux plutôt en termes de caractère ou de conduite. Une telle distinction n’existe pas dans les langues bibliques. « Être justifié par son sang » signifie la même chose qu’être « rendu vertueux par son sang. »
