The Passions of Sin

And he goes on to say that. Verse, now in chapter 7, verse 6,

“For when we were in the flesh, when we were controlled by our fleshly nature, the passions of sin which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.”

Now, that’s an astonishing statement for most religious people. But it says, “the passions of sin were aroused by the law.” The law didn’t stop us sinning, it stirred up sin in us.

So, we’ve been delivered from keeping the law as a means of achieving righteousness because the thing that the law dominated, our fleshly nature, has been put to death. Now we can be married to another person, the resurrected Christ.
