The Journey So Far
Derek Prince’s connection to Israel began in 1941 during his military service in the Middle East, where he sensed an undeniable call to the Land—he often said, “Jerusalem chose me.” His bond deepened after meeting and marrying Lydia Christiansen, a Danish missionary who ran a children’s home in Ramallah. Together they lived through Israel’s turbulent fight for independence, witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by the Jewish people. After Lydia’s passing in 1975, Derek’s journey with Israel entered a new season.
In 1981, he moved permanently to Jerusalem with his second wife, Ruth. Their home became a base for worldwide ministry, and Derek spent his later years ministering across Israel—including to youth — while calling the global Church to pray for Israel and to recognize the spiritual debt Christians owe to the Jewish people. In 2003, Derek passed away peacefully in Jerusalem, the city that had “chosen” him decades earlier.
That same commitment continues through DPM’s Israel outreach, officially established in June 2003. Beginning in 2022, DPM began working in formal partnership with CFI–Jerusalem (First Fruits) to translate, print, and freely distribute Derek’s teaching across the Land in Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, and English.
Since 2023, over 8,000 books have been placed into hands across Israel (with English and Russian the most distributed overall). In 2025 we printed five new Hebrew titles, and produced the Self-Study Bible Course in Arabic and Russian to serve growing needs.
Today, with Andy & Carla Ure serving alongside our CFI partners, we’re continuing what Derek began: blessing God’s people in the Land and sowing the Word—book by book, fellowship by fellowship.
