Derek Prince's teaching continues to inspire and change lives, with Cambodian pastors taking his message of God's powerful truths to the next generation.
The scorching Cambodian heat, reaching a staggering 40°C, wasn't enough to deter a gathering of passionate souls in Takeo province. This vibrant region, situated in the south of Cambodia and about a two-hour drive from Phnom Penh, played host to a momentous event—our second pastors’ seminar in five years.
We returned to Takeo province with a renewed sense of purpose and a treasure trove of resources: DPM’s teaching materials translated into the Khmer language. The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Provincial Pastors’ Association and we welcomed 51 pastors and leaders from different churches.
The temptation of air-conditioned comfort was strong, but the decision to host the seminar at the Methodist Church proved to be a powerful display of unity. Despite the heat, the pastors were fully engaged in the teachings and were deeply captivated by the life-changing truths of the Gospel.
Transformative Materials by DPM in the Khmer Language
This seminar wasn't just about sharing information, but about igniting a fire. We brought several boxes of five transformative books published by DPM: Power in the Name, The Power of Proclamation, Complete Salvation, The Power of Sacrifice, and By Grace Alone. Each book offered a profound insight into the core message of Jesus Christ, equipping these leaders to become even more effective shepherds for their congregations. Participants typically enjoyed sharing in small groups, and this session saw pastors taking more time than usual.
The impact of this seminar was tangible. The pastors received the teachings with an openness that left us humbled. Derek’s messages resonated deeply with their emphasis on the liberating power of the Gospel, which is easy to understand, especially in our own Khmer language. We witnessed a renewed sense of purpose and clarity in their eyes as they grasped the transformative potential of these truths. We left Takeo Province knowing that this was just the beginning. The fire of faith ignited within these leaders has the power to illuminate entire communities with the light of the Gospel.
A Father Transformed: Pastor Ouch Ratha's Story of Faith and Redemption
Pastor Ouch Ratha, the esteemed leader of the Takeo Provincial Pastors’ Association, embodies the transformative power of the Gospel message we shared during the recent seminar. Derek Prince's teachings resonated deeply within him, particularly the book The Power of Proclamation.
Pastor Ratha shared a poignant story about his own son, a young man who had strayed down a path of rebellion, even facing expulsion from school. The weight of worry and concern for his son's future was a heavy burden. However, Pastor Ratha found solace not in punishment or despair, but in the power of prayer and proclamation.
Inspired by the teachings on the power of God's Word, Pastor Ratha embarked on a journey of unwavering faith. Instead of reprimanding his son, he chose to proclaim God's words of love and redemption over him daily. This act of faith, fueled by a newfound understanding of God's boundless love as revealed in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, became a turning point.
Pastor Ratha's faith bore fruit in a way he could never have anticipated. His son, seemingly lost on a path of self-destruction, found redemption. He not only passed his national exams but also found a respectable career path as an officer at Sihanoukville Prison.
This remarkable story serves as a powerful testament to the transformative power of faith. Pastor Ratha's journey is a beacon of hope, reminding us that God's love can work miracles, even in the face of despair. Through the proclamation of His Word, hearts can be changed, lives redirected, and families restored. Praise the Lord!
