Day 198: Proclaiming vs Explaining

There is no more powerful weapon that God has committed to His people than the proclamation of Scripture -- not preaching, not explaining, but proclaiming. For many years God called me to be a teacher of the Scriptures, I always felt I had to explain everything. But then, just after Ruth and I got married, He began to put in my mind the word proclaim. And that has had, over the years, a major influence in my ministry. I realize there are times when we can proclaim and the Holy Spirit will do the explaining. We don’t have to explain everything.
