There are basically two kinds of guidance for Christians – one is general and the other is special, or individual. Now general guidance is the same for all of God’s people, and it comes primarily from the Bible. Special guidance is individual for each of God’s children as and when they need it. For instance there’s nothing in the Bible that I know of that told me that I was to begin my ministry in Jerusalem. That was a special revelation to me from God. But the point I want to establish right at the beginning is you do not qualify for special guidance unless you’re obeying general guidance.
