            Leer dat God een totale lofprijzing verlangt die ons hele wezen omvat. We zijn geroepen om onze Koning te eren met klappende handen en vreugdevolle liederen.
            Alle volken, klap in de handen; juich voor God met luide vreugdezang… God vaart op onder gejuich, de HEERE vaart op onder bazuingeschal. Zing psalmen voor God, zing psalmen, zing psalmen voor onze Koning, zing psalmen. (Psalm 47:2, 6-7)

            Dit is de Bijbelse voorstelling van de gepaste reactie op God in Zijn grote macht en glorie. Er is één specifiek woord dat samenvat wat Gods grootheid en pracht in jou en mij teweeg behoort te brengen: lofprijs. Maar dan wel een veelomvattend soort lofprijs; lofprijs waarbij ons hele lichaam betrokken is.

            ‘Alle volken, klap in de handen; juich voor God met luide vreugdezang’. Dat houdt veel meer in dan religieuze eerbiedwaardigheid. Hier wordt een uitbundige reactie van een verlost mens naar de Heer in Zijn grootheid beschreven. Klap in je handen; juich voor God!

            Vervolgens staat er: ‘God vaart op onder gejuich… onder bazuingeschal’. Gejuich, handen klappen en muziek horen er allemaal bij om de lofprijs voor God te laten klinken. En de psalm gaat verder met het prijzen en loven van onze God en Koning.

            Lofprijs is onze gepaste reactie naar God in Zijn ontzagwekkende grootheid.

            God en Koning, ik prijs U en eer U om Uw mastueuze grootheid! U bent ontzagwekkend en tegelijk heerlijk, hemelse Vader. Dank U wel voor het allesomvattende offer van Uw Zoon Jezus aan het kruis, waardoor ik vandaag Uw kind mag zijn en mij veilig mag weten in Uw bescherming. Amen.
