I find the biggest single problem of Christian leaders is personal insecurity. And it causes them to do all sorts of things that they do in order to achieve security — not by the leading of the Holy Spirit, and not for the good of the flock. And I want to tell you that I don’t believe there’s any way to find true personal security except in your relationship with God. I’ve encountered Christians who are seeking security in their relationships in the body. That’s wonderful, but it’s second. And I do not know of any Christian of whom I could say “He will never let me down.” I wish I did.
