At Derek Prince Ministries, South Africa, we are constantly reminded of the incredible reach and impact of Derek's teachings across Africa. Recently, we received a testimony from Pastor Ruaan in Malawi which shows the power of God's Word.
Pastoring in Africa often comes with a unique set of challenges. People naturally look to their pastors for guidance and strength, but who supports the pastors when they are struggling themselves? Pastor Ruaan candidly shared his journey with us:
"After going through an extremely shaky, confusing, and painful time in church as pastors, I was seeking help and answers. I somehow came across Derek Prince’s teachings on YouTube. I am so stirred by Derek’s life and teachings. I loved the simple yet profound and practical way he taught. I loved how he believed the Word and had this almost childlike faith in God and what He said. I loved his boldness in Christ."
These teachings helped Ruaan rediscover his footing and rekindle his walk with God. He explained,
"I found through Derek’s teachings an almost ‘old’ Biblical way to my walk with God, and slowly but surely, I am on my way to restoration."
A Lifeline Through Derek's Books
Seeking to learn more, Pastor Ruaan reached out to us at DPM South Africa, where he discovered even more of Derek’s Bible teachings in print. He described the impact:
"Finding his books in South Africa was a very big blessing, and I find the topics extremely equipping. I feel the ministry God called him to is living on and still equipping us for the challenges we face today. Thank you so much for all you are doing to make the Word of God available to us through Derek’s teachings."
Ruaan didn’t keep the blessing to himself. He downloaded the e-book Secrets of a Prayer Warrior and began using it to teach his church about prayer. He shared, "The feedback has been so positive."
Recently, Ruaan’s ministry expanded to Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia, where he witnessed God moving in remarkable ways—healing, delivering, and filling people with the Holy Spirit. However, Ruaan noted the need for more sound biblical teaching materials in these regions: "The need is for material with good, solid Bible teachings like Derek Prince’s teachings."
Meeting the Need
Recognizing this need, we at DPM South Africa sent Ruaan two of Derek’s books in Chichewa: Life-Changing Spiritual Power (a six-book compendium) and the Self Study Bible Course. Ruaan’s response was heartwarming and filled with vision:
"May I please print and bind it and start with the pastors? I can do so much with these. We have some incredible pastors we are walking a road with—really great, hardworking, and sincere believing people. I am so excited."
He even promised to buy the books as soon as they are available in print. Unfortunately, reprinting these books remains a challenge due to limited funds.
Ruaan’s story is one of many that highlight the life-changing power of Derek Prince’s bible teachings. But it also reminds us of the great need for biblical resources across Africa.
