In August, DPM-India Directors, Elsie and Danny, led a DPM team to Sri Lanka for a mission trip that included a youth leaders' training camp and seminars for pastors.
The first part of the outreach took place in Kalmunai, in Sri Lanka’s eastern province, where the team organized a Youth Leaders Training Camp for 50 youth leaders. However, to everyone’s surprise, 72 young people eagerly registered on the first day, highlighting the enthusiasm in the local churches.
This training was crucial, as many young people in the area are vulnerable to the growing threats of drug addiction and other harmful habits. The camp was designed to equip the youth to shine the light of Christ in their communities. Whilst some participants initially expected the camp to be filled with fun and games, they soon realized it was focused on serious training and spiritual growth.
The curriculum included 12 subjects based on Derek Prince's teachings, covering topics such as the ‘The Divine Exchange’; holiness; calling; ‘Curse to Blessing’; ‘Spiritual Warfare’; ‘The Gifts of the Spirit’; ‘The Power and Authority of God's Word’ and the end times. To balance the intensive teaching, the team incorporated quizzes, games, worship and debates, keeping the youth engaged with God’s Word.
One young woman shared,
“The teaching on the end times was so enlightening. It's a topic rarely discussed in today's Christian world, which is often more focused on blessings. The reality of Christ’s return and the Antichrist’s coming hit me so hard that I made a firm decision to live for the Lord and help others do the same. I want us to be ready for His coming, not left behind.”
Worship was also a vital aspect of the camp, helping open hearts to receive the teaching. The team demonstrated biblical worship principles from Derek Prince’s book, ‘Entering the Presence of God’. As the youth began to grasp the importance of wholehearted praise, a debate titled “Worship: Talent or Anointing?” was held to stimulate their thinking, followed by a teaching from Elsie on worship.
Over three days, the participants were taught to rightly divide the Word of God and to use it as a powerful tool in their ministries. As the training progressed, many young people experienced a deep sense of direction and dedication. The team prayed for them, laying hands on each one, and many received powerful anointings and deliverances.
One youth leader testified,
“I’ve always had a scientific mindset, and whenever something in the Word conflicted with science, I couldn’t accept it. But through this training, I’ve realized that the Word of God is the ultimate truth, and I’m committed to sharing it with others.”
To encourage continued study of the Word, each participant received books by Derek Prince, including ‘The Foundation Series’, ‘What’s So Important About the Cross?’, ‘Called to Conquer’ and the ‘Self Study Bible Course’. The youth left the camp filled with joy, a clear sense of direction and a renewed vision to serve their communities.
