What is Discretion?

So what is discretion? When God has given you understanding and when He’s given you insight, discretion is knowing what to do with it. And that’s where so many of us slip up. You know you see the truth about somebody. But that’s not enough. You’ve got to know when to tell it and how to tell it. I think discretion, to a large extent, is knowing what to say and what not to say and knowing when to say it. And if I were to describe discretion in the New Testament words it would be the words of Jesus, “Be as harmless as the dove but as cunning as the serpent.”
